Who needs to go to the capital city when you can catch a National Theatre performance at your local cinema?

The prestigious theatre company is broadcasting a live screening of The Crucible, starring Erin Doherty and Brendan Cowell, at cinemas across the country on Thursday, January 26.

There are 21 cinemas showing the performance that evening, including chains such as Odeon, Vue and Cineworld, as well as some independent theatres.

The Crucible is the first National Theatre Live screening of 2023.

Further screening events have already been announced for this year, including Othello in February and Life of Pi in March.
