Whitstable Town boss Will Graham still eyeing his options ahead of four games in a week

Boss Will Graham believes four games in eight days next week will leave him closer to knowing the make-up of his Whitstable Town squad ahead of the new Ryman League, Division 1 South season.

Town visit Erith & Belvedere on Saturday in the Martin Tarrant Memorial fixture, remembering the life of the Welling club’s former director, who died last November aged 58.

They then host Canterbury City next Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).

Graham plans to field a team of under-21s and trialists against City, before naming strong sides to face Ryman League pair VCD on Thursday, July 30, and AFC Hornchurch the following Saturday (August 1).

He said: “We have got a busy week and those games will give me another chance to have a look at everybody. I am also interested in bringing in two other players and have also put in a seven-day approach for a striker presently with a Southern Counties East League club.”

Graham is running the eye over his own brother, 24-year-old striker Sam Callender, as well as former Ramsgate youngster Ira Jackson (pictured) and Faversham under-21 player Michael Hurcomb.

Town start the new league campaign away at Walton & Hersham on Saturday, August 8, before hosting Folkestone Invicta three days later.

Graham said: “Walton is a tough place to start, while Folkestone are my tip to be champions. Neil Cugley is a great manager with a good bunch of players.”
