Dartford's keenest runners descend on Central Park for Christmas Eve Park Run

Nobody ever feels particularly proud of the amount of food they manage to consume over the festive period, but some made the effort to stave off the need for a bigger pair of jeans by embarking on a Christmas Park Run over the weekend.

Dartford’s keenest runners descended on Central Park for the penultimate Park Run of the year, with plenty taking full advantage of Christmas Eve falling on a Saturday.

There were elves, reindeer, snowmen and Santas, with one man even bringing his canine companion along to join in the fun.

Youngsters took part in the usual Junior Park Run, with eight-year-old Fred Poland sporting a fantastic Rudolph hat, seven-year-old Kirsty Willmott going all-in with a reindeer onesie, and her ten-year-old sister Leanne dressed as Father Christmas himself.

Having adequately prepared their bodies for Christmas lunch and a week of leftovers, the next Park Run will be about starting to burn it all off.

It takes place as usual at 9am on New Year’s Eve (Saturday), but you don’t need to go dressed as an alcoholic beverage or a firework.

If you’ve not taken part before, head to parkrun.org.uk/dartford to register.
