Dramatic footage has emerged of a yard blaze which saw multiple vehicles scorched.

Those living near Canal Road, in Gravesend, said they heard “small explosions and bangs” as the fire broke out at around 3am yesterday (May 16).

George Chris was at his window smoking a cigarette when he spotted the flames behind the trees.

He told KentOnline: “I saw the fire start. A guy working there tried to put it out using a fire extinguisher but could not.

“I called 999 and the fire service arrived around eight to nine minutes later.

“There was a lot of small explosions and bangs.”

Video footage of the blaze shows flames growing bigger as the fire spreads and black smoke billows into the air behind the trees.

Four fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames just before 4am using hose reel jets, main jets, compressed air foam and water from hydrants.

It is understood at least six vehicles were affected, however, it is not known which business they belong to.

No injuries were reported and the cause is believed to be accidental.
