Farmfoods announce opening date for second store in Gravesend

The opening date for a frozen food giant’s latest supermarket in Kent has been revealed.

Farmfoods is launching a second store in Gravesend in the former Bensons for Beds unit on the Imperial Retail Park.

Plans to change the use of the ground floor of the unit were approved in February to allow the sale of food and other goods.

In a planning statement, applicant Box+III Gravesend Limited said it would allow Farmfoods to create a more “pleasant shopping experience”.

The supermarket chain already has a 470 sq m store in the Thamesgate Shopping Centre but the plans stated it “no longer meets requirements for the Gravesend area”.

Therefore, it was looking to open a second, bigger branch in addition to its current location.

The new 928 sq m unit, which is almost double the size of the existing shop, will offer branded and own-brand products including frozen food, groceries, bread, fresh fruit and vegetables and household items.

It will be welcoming its first customers at 8am this Friday (April 26).

The store will then be open seven days a week from 8am to 10pm on weekdays, 8am to 8pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
