CCTV footage of missing pensioner Brian Smart at Bluewater released as search continues

Footage of a pensioner at Bluewater shopping centre filmed a day before he went missing has been released by police.

Brian Smart, 85, has been missing from his home for more than three weeks.

He was captured on CCTV at the mall on Monday, September 21, and police believe he was wearing the same jacket when he was last seen at his home in Abbey Wood, south east London, at 7.30pm the next day.

Mr Smart is generally fit and well for his age, although he walks with a stick, and is known to frequent Bluewater, Dartford and Bexleyheath.

The grandfather is white, 5ft 7ins and of medium build. He usually wears a dark waist length jacket, blue jeans and dark shoes.

It is believed he had no money or Oyster card when he went missing.

Two weeks ago his son, Mark, and grandchildren issued a heartfelt plea to help find him.

Mark, 53, said: "We are so worried about my dad. If anyone has seen him or thinks they may have seen him please contact police as soon as possible.

"We are missing him terribly and any information could prove invaluable. My dad is well known in the area and the whole family is desperate for him to come home safe."

Officers have been conducting extensive searches in the area and have conducted house-to-house inquiries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Greenwich Police on 07770-825-571 or the police non-emergency line 101.
