Man charged after allegedly walking along Cobham Rise, Gillingham with a machete

A man has been taken into police custody after allegedly walking the streets armed with a machete.

Police were called to Cobham Rise, Gillingham following reports of a man holding the weapon in his hand.

Patrols attended the area at around 1.50pm on Wednesday, January 4 and detained the suspect who was taken into custody.

They also seized a knife and a quantity of cannabis.

Harvie Pearson, of Eastcourt Lane, Gillingham was later charged with possession of a knife in a public place and possessing a class B drug.

The 19-year-old was bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on February 3.
