The minesweeper HMS Cattistock sailed up the River Medway today ready for her guest slot at the first national Armed Forces Day.

Rachel Billings took this picture as the vessel was on the final leg of its journey to Chatham’s Historic Dockyard.

This is the third ship to bear the name Cattistock. She was accepted into the Royal Navy in 1982, at Portsmouth, from her builders Vosper Thorneycroft Ltd. She is built of Glass Re-Inforced Plastic(GRP), powered by two diesel engines and carries a 30mm gun.

HMS Cattistock will be just one of the attractions to be enjoyed by 30,000 guests at the historic dockyard tomorrow.
