Teenager hospitalised after assault in St Albans Close, Gillingham

A teenager is in a serious condition in hospital following an assault.

Police were called to St Albans Close in Gillingham shortly after 7.20pm yesterday.

A teenage boy suffered a stab wound and was taken to London hospital were he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Unconfirmed reports suggested he was transported via the air ambulance which had landed in Hilly Fields.

There was also suggestion the police helicopter was deployed.

A 16-year-old boy from Chatham and a 20-year-old man were arrested.

The boy appeared at Medway Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 9 after being charged with causing wounding with intent and one count of possession of a class B drug.

He was sent to Youth Detention Accommodation and is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, May 7.

The man was charged with perverting the course of justice and was bailed following charge until Saturday, October 31.
