£10,000 reward after raid at bookies

BOOKMAKERS are offering a £10,000 reward after a robbery at a Kent betting shop.

William Hill are putting up the money for anyone who gives information that leads to a conviction of the robbers who targeted the shop in Court Wurtin at Ashford.

Police say three men entered the shop premises and ran to the till area at the rear of the premises.

Two of the men grabbed cash from the tills, and the third appeared to keeping a look out on the shop floor.

A member of staff approached one of the men at the tills. He was pushed to the floor and punched him. The staff member sustained facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

All three men ran from the shop, and it is believed they turned right and into an alleyway that leads in to the housing estate.

The man who kept lookout is described as possibly white, 5ft 10in tall. He was wearing a black mask, dark clothing and a hooded top.

The man who punched the staff member is described as Afro Caribbean, over 6ft tall, slim build and wearing dark jeans and a dark hooded top.

The third man is described as Afro Caribbean 5ft 10in to 6ft tall, slim build and wearing dark jeans and a hooded top. All are said to be in their 20s. The incident happened at about 6pm on Monday.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: “Our security teams will not divulge a great deal of information on any robbery at one of our betting shops.

“There is a standard £10,000 reward being offered, payable to anyone who gives any information that leads to a conviction.”
