5 injured as lorry and car collide

FIVE people were taken to hospital after a road crash early today involving a lorry and a car.

The incident happened near the junction 10 slip road to the M20 at Ashford. The occupants of the car sustained broken bones but police say their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

It is believed the lorry overturned as it tried to negotiate the slip road and it took several hours to remove the wreckage from the road.

Police closed Hythe Road at about 3am and didn't reopen it until around 8.20am - too late to avert rush-hour chaos around the town.
