The RSPCA is appealing for information after a kitten with such a bad leg injury that it needed to be amputated was found abandoned in a box outside a vet practice.
The tiny furball, who has been named Cabbage, was left outside the Cinque Ports Veterinary Surgery in Lydd.
He is thought to be only eight to nine weeks old and when he was found on Tuesday last week he had a broken front leg and was suffering with cat flu and worms.
Cabbage was taken to the RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital for an operation, where vets were forced to amputate his broken leg.
The friendly feline's treatment is being funded by the Kent, Ashford, Tenterden & District Branch, who will take him in when he is well enough.
The RSPCA is investigating his abandonment and has urged anyone who knows anything to get in touch by calling 03001 238018.
RSPCA inspector Rosie Russon said: “This poor little fella was found dumped on the doorstep and it’s so sad to think he was left there all alone suffering with a broken leg.
"It is never okay to abandon an animal no matter the circumstances"
“Whoever left him there might have wrongly thought they had done the right thing but it is never okay to abandon an animal no matter the circumstances, especially when this poor boy had a broken leg, which needed urgent treatment and pain relief.
"We would urge owners not to abandon their pets and to seek help from friends, family or charities instead.
“Thankfully despite his terrible ordeal this little boy is full of character and affection and, hopefully, once he has had the treatment he needs we can find him a loving new home.”
