Aldi has revealed new plans for another supermarket in Ashford.
The expanding German chain, which has long been interested in launching another shop in the town, has its sights set on a section of land on in Kennington.
It claims that building on the brownfield site on Canterbury Road, next to the Holiday Inn and opposite to Longacre Garden Centre, would create 50 jobs locally.
The development would include a sales area of 1,315sq m, as well as a 120-space car park with 22 charging points for electric vehicles.
Aldi purchased the 1.85-acre site, which had been previously earmarked for a Miller and Carter Steakhouse, in 2019.
No planning application has been submitted yet, with the store hoping to hear residents' views of the proposal beforehand.
A second proposal has also been aired for a 'modestly sized foodstore' on the Waterbrook Park estate.
The plan for the development space, which already has outline planning consent for a food store, was first brought to light in July.
It has not been confirmed whether the two plans are mutually exclusive or could both be brought into reality, however both plans remain open and claim to serve different areas of town.
The Waterbrook proposal claims to bring more choice to the residents of "Finberry and south Ashford", while the Canterbury Road store would serve "Kennington and the wider Ashford area".
Aldi have been contacted for comment.
Earlier this year, the budget retailer was forced to drop plans to open a store in Tenterden after plans for the St Michaels recreation ground sparked outrage.
It is looking to significantly expand its presence in the county in the coming years, with a further 16 extra locations being considered.
Over in Canterbury, work is under way to reduce the size of Sturry Road's B&Q to allow it to cater for a new Aldi next door, which is planned to open later this year.
