Resident writes Santa a letter asking for people to pick up their dog poo on Guernsey Way, Ashford

A resident only has one wish for Christmas - that dog walkers would pick up their pet's poo.

Mum-of-two Nicola Harrison published a semi-satirical letter on Facebook regarding the mess being left on Guernsey Way in Ashford.

In it she writes: "Dear Santa,

"For Christmas I would really like the person who lets their dog poo all over the paths on Guernsey Way to pick up their dog mess.

"I know that it must be fun creating a slalom run out of faeces but when there are lots of children walking, skipping and running to school and nursery everyday, the newer 'obstacles' can be hard to miss. Especially when there seems to be a new cluster everyday.

"Oh, and Santa, if they are worried about the dog poo bags not being environmentally friendly, lots and lots and LOTS of places have biodegradable dog poo bags now. They are very, very easy to find. Even your Christmas elves could do it.

"Well Santa that's enough from me. I hope that when it comes to Christmas eve you find somewhere clean to park your sleigh and neither you or Rudolf slip over or tread in anything nasty.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS."

The post has attracted more than 60 reactions and a number of comments, all supporting her festive message.

Earlier this year, a mum in nearby Tenterden cleaned up 187 'leavings' along one path.

Speaking to KentOnline, the 33-year-old production assistant said: "Well, I've lived on Guernsey Way for three-and-a half-years now and I think this is the worst I've seen it so far.

"It's been getting noticeably worse and building up - quite literally in some places - in the last eight to 12 weeks.

"It's definitely not localised to just Guernsey Way. I know that it is also pretty bad along Ulley Road towards The Kennington CE Academy School. I believe Bybrook is also pretty bad, too.

"I think one lady said on my post that she was shouted at for asking two people to pick up their dog poo from the cemetery. It's rest in peace, not rest in poo.

"I know that's it's not the nicest job in the world, I have my own dog and part of the responsibility of owning a dog is taking care of them and cleaning up after them.

"I think we're all dreaming of a white Christmas but the state of some of the paths around Kennington, I think most of us would be happy with a clean path for Christmas."
