Neil Cugley believes Allan Tait can be the man to fire Folkestone Invicta up the Ryman League, Premier Division table after he clinched the striker’s signature this week.
Tait (pictured) bagged 42 goals in 75 games for the club before leaving for Crawley in 2004 but Cugley swooped to re-sign his man after he was released from Horsham last week.
The forward marked his return with a goal in Invicta’s 1-1 draw with AFC Hornchurch on Tuesday and Cugley is hoping that there will be plenty more to come.
The Invicta boss said: "Allan’s always played well for me and it’s a good signing for the club.
"I enjoy managing him and we get on well. We needed something a bit different up front and he gives us that.
"When he was released from Horsham, I gave him a call and he said he’d come over.
"The travelling could be a problem as it’s a long way for him to come from Crawley but he’s here for now and hopefully he’ll be here to stay.
"For one reason or another, it’s not worked out for him at other clubs but hopefully he can hit it off again here.
"We’ve got Jimmy Dryden coming back to fitness too, so when you think of a partnership of Dryden and Tait up front, things are certainly looking up."
Dryden is expected to line up for the reserves on Saturday and he could complete his comeback to full action against Cray Wanderers in Tuesday night’s League Cup tie.
However, in the meantime Invicta travel to Concord Rangers, buoyed after moving out of the relegation zone with their draw against Hornchurch.
