A former blacksmith’s forge at a rural pub will play host to a rising star of the folk scene this weekend.

Patsy Matheson has been making music for over 20 years, and in that time has garnered growing attention and critical acclaim from some of the luminaries of the UK folk and wider music scene.

She will return to the Farriers Arms in Mersham on Saturday, after an earlier sell-out gig in March.

Patsy’s folk credentials first emerged in 1991 when she entered a songwriting competition and was chosen as the winner by Maddy Prior, of Steeleye Span fame.

Since that time, the acoustic singer-songwriter has come a long way, performing alongside some of the biggest names of the UK folk scene, including the late, great John Martyn and Celtic rabble-rouser Christy Moore.

Her latest album, Stories of Angels and Guitars, has won critical acclaim.
