A £55 million apartment block is ready to be opened.

Around three quarters of the development, which consists of studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments, has already been sold.

Construction on the flats, which lie close to Ashford International Station, was expected to finish in the spring but was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The last apartments are now ready to move into, with prices from £155,000 and Help to Buy available.

Tom Bryant, head of residential development sales with Savills, who have been selling the properties, described Victoria Point as "a gateway site for Ashford".

"The flats have been particularly popular with the younger demographic, including first time buyers and young professionals, as the development provides an ideal base from which to work from home, while retaining connectivity to the capital," he added.

The apartments are part of a larger development on Victoria Road, that is also seeing a 140-room Hampton by Hilton Hotel constructed.

Bizarre 'shipping containers' were seen appearing in the area as part of the hotel's construction.

In February, a spokesman said the building was due to open next month, creating 25 jobs, with recruitment due to start in September.

However, construction was paused due to the coronavirus lockdown and it has been confirmed it will not open this year.

A new opening target was set of March 2021, however is not known whether or not this will be affected again by the government's decision to implement a second lockdown during November.

In recent years, a new Curious Brewery and an Aldi superstore have also been built across the road from the development in what has been a time of considerable change for the area.
