In a case of life imitating art, cinema-goers in Ashford have spotted a car daubed with graffiti inspired by spoof radio presenter Alan Partridge.

Social media users posted the image of the Rover, covered in the same expletives which appear on the comedy character's own car.

In the episode A Room With An Alan of the 1997 television series I'm Alan Partridge, a down on his luck Partridge - who is living in a budget hotel - finds his beloved Rover 800 covered with an unprintable phrase.

He has to disguise the offending words before a meeting with a senior BBC executive.

The 'tribute' Rover was spotted parked near the Cineworld cinema in Ashford's Euereka Leisure Park.

It is not known whether the culprit is a vandal or a fan who perhaps got carried away in their love of all things Partridge.

But a spokesman for Cineworld has said that they are not aware of it being a crafty PR stunt promoting the new Alan Partridge film, Alpha Papa, currently at cinemas.
