Kent Fire and Rescue Service called to Pivington Lane near Charing when an abandoned car was found on fire

Police are investigating after a car was found on fire and dumped in the middle of a country lane.

Fire crews were called to Pivington Lane near Charing at 8.30pm on Wednesday, November 10.

Kevin Surridge, Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) watch commander said police searched nearby fields but could not find anyone.

They sent one pump and were there for an hour and a half but the Daihatsu Fourtrak vehicle was completely destroyed.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Police have seized the burnt remains of the vehicle and are making further enquiries to establish if it had been stolen and if the fire is suspicious.”
