A “deeply insecure” abuser with a history of violence towards women has been jailed after threatening to rape a girl.

Anthony Murphy was previously convicted after stabbing one ex-partner and threatening to “cut up” another, after relationships soured between 2014 and 2016.

Now, “misogynistic” Murphy has been jailed again after threatening to stab his latest girlfriend and sexually assault her daughter.

The 46-year-old, of Ashford, was jailed at Canterbury Crown Court for 44 weeks, with a judge labelling his actions “cowardly”, “dangerous” and “deep seated in misogyny.”

His trail of destruction began when he attacked his ex’s friend, dragging him to the floor and levelling homophobic remarks following a vodka binge in Ramsgate.

Murphy repeated the assault on a police officer soon after, this time punching out, trying to sink his teeth into the PC’s arms and threatening to “bite his face,” prosecutors said.

Murphy would tell other arresting officers he would “kill them” and “eat their faces”.

'You are a danger to society, particularly to your partners.'

During a phone call, he then threatened to stab his ex and rape her daughter, the court heard.

Murphy, who has 16 previous convictions for 20 offences, admitted making the threats while drunk on vodka.

He was convicted of occasioning actual bodily harm against one ex after stabbing her in 2014, only to be convicted of malicious communications in 2016 after threatening violence against another partner.

His barrister Paul Hogben argued Murphy wanted to address his alcohol addiction and receive counselling following a family tragedy, all of which had prevented him from working.

Mr Hogben argued Murphy had a personality disorder following a childhood trauma, and claimed he could be dealt with in the community having already spent 256 days on curfew following his arrest.

'Your crude and offensive slurs demonstrate clear and full homophobia, which have no place in society.'

Jailing Murphy for 44 weeks, recorder Alison Russell called his behaviour “routines of reoffending” and “deep seated misogyny”.

“Your attempt to justify your threats are reprehensible and I agree this was an attempt by you to cause extreme pain to your ex-partner," she said.

“You are a danger to society, particularly to your partners.

“Your crude and offensive slurs demonstrate clear and full homophobia, which have no place in society,” she said.

Murphy, of Gladstone Road, Willesborough, pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency, assault and sending malicious communications on the day of trial.
