A car driver has been taken to hospital with minor injuries following a crash this morning.

The accident took place on Canterbury Road this morning near Canterbury Road cemetery, leaving the road shut in both directions.

It is now fully open after the crash, which involved a Vauxhall Corsa and a Citroen C1 at 7.11am.

One ambulance crew attended the scene.

A man, the driver of the Citroen, was assessed and treated at the scene for neck and shoulder pain before being taken to William Harvey Hospital.

A recovery vehicle was sent to the scene.

The road was clear by 8.36am.
