Air ambulance called to accident on A28 Ashford Road at Bethersden where woman cut free

A woman in her 70s had to be cut free from her car after it was involved in a crash with a lorry.

The collision between her vehicle and the lorry carrying a skip happened on Kiln Lane in Bethersden at around 4pm.

The road was closed in both directions as a result.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service crews used 'jaws of life' cutting equipment to remove the doors and roof of the car to gain access to the injured woman.

She was carefully transferred into the care of air ambulance paramedics and doctors and was taken to hospital while fire crews made the scene safe.

Police accident investigation work is understood to be ongoing between the Woodchurch turning and Forge Hill.

Traffic travelling between Ashford and Tenterden, as well as Stagecoach bus services, have been affected.
