A town’s Aldi store was closed this morning due to a technical issue.
Customers at the supermarket in Victoria Road, Ashford, were turned away as the shop temporarily shut.
A sign on the door of the building read: “Due to a technical issue this store is closed.
“Sorry for any inconvenience.”
It is thought the store reopened just after 10.45am.
It comes as the supermarket giant is set to open two more stores in the town.
The German chain has been given the green light to build on a prime spot in Kennington on A28 Canterbury Road.
It hopes to have the store open by mid-2025, creating up to 50 new jobs.
And in November 2022, Aldi gained planning permission for a shop on the Waterbrook Park estate off the A2070.
But a condition imposed by Ashford Borough Council (ABC) means contractors cannot start work until progress is made on a separate convenience store on the nearby Finberry housing estate.
The discount retailer has launched a petition against the move as it fears Finberry residents "will continue to have no local foodstore for several years".
