A WELL-KNOWN Ashford sportsman, Derrick Sheather, has died. He played football for the village side Great Chart and loved a game of tennis to a late age.

Mr Sheather was a train driver for 47 years. The funeral will be held at St Mary's Church at Ashford, on Tuesday, May 7, at 1.45pm. Anyone who knew Mr Sheather will be welcome at the Old Stacians CC at Kingsnorth after the service.
