A PROFILER from the National Crime Faculty has been drafted in to help catch the killer of 21-year-old Amanda Champion.

The specialist profiler is expected to join up with the murder investigation team in Ashford today.

Miss Champion’s decomposed body was found on waste ground, close to a footpath, near The Albion pub in South Willesborough, last Saturday.

She had been reported missing on July 15, but not seen at work at BP Travel Marketing Services, Orbital Park, since July 3.

It is known Miss Champion used the footpath to walk to and from the park in Sevington each day from her home in Alfred Road, Newtown, where she lived on her own.

Det Ch Insp Dean Barnes, who is leading the investigation, said: “We will leave no stone unturned in tracking down and charging the person responsible for the murder of Amanda Champion. We will take advantage of the latest forensic technology and specialist skills as part of the investigation.”

This week as forensic teams searched for clues at the site where her body was found and officers carried out door-to-door inquiries in the area, Miss Champion’s aunt and guardian Fiona Champion talked about the shy and quiet young woman who she had grown so close to.

Mrs Champion described her niece as wonderful and, making an appeal for people with information to come forward, said: “Whoever did this is very, very sick.”

A post mortem revealed the cause of death, but this has not been released by police for operational reasons.

Today DCI Barnes once again appealed for information about the murder and urged anybody who could help the investigation to call the incident room on 01303 289600 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Miss Champion was 5ft 3ins tall, of small build, with long, light brown hair and blue rimmed glasses. On the day she disappeared she was wearing a red T-shirt, with blue jeans, white trainers and a blue sleeveless smock.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who saw a woman matching that description in Mead Road, South Willesborough, or on the footpath which runs parallel with Crowbridge Road, heading towards Beazley Court.

They are particularly interested in any sightings between July 3 and 15.
