AMANDA CHAMPION: killed after buying milk and crisps

A 45-year-old man arrested and questioned by detectives last month in connection with the murder of Ashford woman Amanda Champion is no longer on police bail.

The man, who lives in the Ashford area, was quizzed by police on August 14 and released on police bail until last Friday.

Det Ch Insp Dean Barnes, who is leading the hunt for Miss Champion's killer, said today: "He is no longer on bail. It has been cancelled. We have no further questions to put to him at this time."

Detectives believe Miss Champion, who lived in a flat on her own in Alfred Road, Newtown, was killed on Thursday, July 3, between 5.15pm and 6pm. She was last seen just after 5pm in the South Willesborough post office, Mead Road, buying milk and crisps.

Mr Barnes added: "I do urge people to cast their minds back and try hard to establish what they were doing on that day and if they saw anything in that area."
