Man arrested following stabbing at Asda superstore in Ashford

A 28-year-old has been arrested after a man was stabbed outside a supermarket in Ashford.

It comes after police were called to Asda superstore at 6.25am, where a man was found with stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Officers have now arrested a 28-year-old man from Ashford on suspicion of assault.

He remains in custody while officers are continue their enquiries into the incident.

A large section of the car park was taped off earlier this morning while police and forensic teams investigated the incident.

Witnesses reported seeing the injured victim stumble into the supermarket earlier this morning.

One customer also spotted a grey blood stained hoodie on a chair in the entrance to the store.

The store is now fully open after to closing to shoppers earlier.

Ambulance spokesman Rich Airey said: "A call came in at 6.15am this morning reporting an assault.

"Two cars and one ambulance was sent to the scene.

"The patient sustained wounds including an injury to the arm and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for further treatment."

A spokesman for Asda said: "We are assisting the police with their inquiries following an incident that happened outside of our Ashford store this morning.

"The store remains open as normal and we would like to reassure customers that their safety is our top priority and thank our colleagues for their quick thinking and help with this matter."
