Ashford United and Bromley Green have announced plans to groundshare next season.

The agreement will see ambitious Green play senior football at Ashford’s Homelands ground, while also retaining their existing home in South Willesborough.

Bromley Green are one of three haart of Kent County League Premier Division sides seeking promotion to Kent Invicta League and the move will boost their hopes of joining United in the competition.

A joint statement said: "Following a series of productive meetings, the agreement will see Bromley Green playing up to 30 first team games at Homelands.

"It will see the venue become busier with greater patronage while for Green it will enhance their chances of fulfilling a long-held ambition of progression into higher level of football.

"Both parties are excited by what is a business agreement designed to create a positive environment that will bring enjoyment to all involved and allow the future to be faced with confidence."

Homelands and United owner Tony Betteridge (pictured) said: "It is a good deal for both clubs and ensures football will be played on the ground every week of the season. I see it as a positive step forward and a commercial and financial necessity."

Long-serving Bromley Green patron Dave Homewood added: "We have always been ambitious. The club is thriving at all levels at the moment, but everything we do has to be sustainable.

"The move isn’t dependent on us being promoted, but playing at Homelands will help us inspire our youngsters to stay, instead of going elsewhere."
