Teeth and blood were left strewn across a road as a man suffered a fractured jaw in a hit-and-run baseball bat attack.

The victim, in his 50s, was set upon by a man wearing a hi-vis jacket between 4pm and 4.30pm in Earlsworth Road in South Willesborough on Wednesday.

Nearby residents say they saw a car approach the victim before the suspect jumped out and used a baseball bat against the pedestrian.

Teeth and blood were reportedly strewn across the street which was closed by officers afterwards.

A police spokeswoman noted the victim sustained "serious facial injuries" and was taken to hospital.

He said: "The suspect was described as a white man, about 5ft 9ins tall, wearing an orange high-visibility jacket and carried an object described as similar to a baseball bat.

"Officers would like to speak to any witnesses to the assault, or anyone who might have information which can assist their inquiries."
