Six key projects have been identified by Ashford council as being critical to Ashford’s future.
And now an Ashford Strategic Delivery Board is being created to support the schemes known as the ‘Big Six’, as soon as possible.
These include: The Designer Outlet expansion, the Elwick place development, construction of a new commercial quarter, building a town centre college campus, creation of junction 10a on the M20 and developing the Jasmin Vardimon international dance academy.
The board hopes the expansion of the outlet will create a stronger link with the town centre and that Elwick Place - with a cinema, bars and restaurants - will bring extra vitality to the town during the day and evening.
The ‘Big Six’ have been identified as critical projects which will ensure the growth and economic development of the borough.
Speaking at last week’s cabinet meeting, ABC leader Cllr Gerry Clarkson (Con) said: “The board has been set up to make sure they come to fruition as quickly as possible. The board will provide a co-ordinated approach and have a sharp focus on delivery.”
