Leon Camier was robbed of a potential podium finish at Silverstone in the World Superbike Championship.

Camier’s Aprilia Alitalia RSV-4 malfunctioned while he was chasing down second place man Eugene Laverty and the Ashford racer ended up coming home in a disappointed 15th.

From third on the grid in the opening race Camier (pictured) looked set to challenge for a maiden World Superbike win.

He was hoping for better luck in race two and was up to second at one stage. By lap five Carlos Checa, the eventual race winner, had squeezed by to leave Camier in third but tyre problems intervened this time and he had dropped down to fifth by the chequered flag.

Camier sits sixth in the overall standings following the British round. The championship takes a break now before reconvening at the Nurburgring in Germany on September 4.
