A mum has appealed for information to track down the “scum” who stole her autistic son’s bicycle from a special school bike shed.
Police were called to the Wyvern School in Ashford after a thief broke in and stole an Indi Kaiser mountain bike.
Teachers found the broken bike lock, and 15-year-old Ashley Fedder had to call his mum Karen to tell her his bike was gone.
Mrs Fedder said: “The bike is his independence and his way of getting to school. It’s his pride and joy.
“He was very distressed when I spoke to him, he texted me and I phoned him straight away. I went to get him from school.
“A teacher told me they were holding the broken bike lock in their hand. I can’t believe how such low-life scum can do that to a special needs child.
“I’m fuming, and my husband was very angry as well. Why would someone steal from vulnerable people at a special needs school?”
Mrs Fedder said she has posted on social media about the incident, and it has been shared hundreds of times.
But the theft has already had an impact on her son. She added: “He just can’t get his head around why someone would want to steal his bike. He is worried that he is being watched when he is going to school.”
The theft was reported after school on Monday, January 29, and has been reported to the police by the school.
