Body found in Mersham woodland after search for missing pensioner Sheila Ratcliffe

Police have found a body in the search for a missing pensioner.

Sheila Ratcliffe was last seen leaving the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford during the evening of Saturday, August 1.

A CCTV image was released as part of the search for the 76-year-old, however no new information was discovered until Wednesday.

It was then that officers were called to woodland in Mersham at around midday, where the body of a woman was found.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said: "Formal identification has not yet taken place however the family of a 76-year-old woman who was reported missing from Ashford on Sunday, August 2 have been informed.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
