The body of a Gurkha killed in Afghanistan has been brought back to the UK.

Colour Sergeant Krishna Dura, of the 2nd Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles (2RGR) was based in Folkestone with his regiment, and lived in family quarters in Canterbury with his wife and two young daughters.

He was killed when the Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicle he was travelling in was hit by a roadside bomb.

Colour Sergeant Dura was the second Nepali from the regiment to be killed in two weeks, following the death of Rifleman Yubraj Rai.

Flowers have been left in tribute to the men, tied to railings overlooking the beach at Seabrook where they would have trained for many hours, running on the strength-sapping shingle.

C.Sgt Dura’s body was flown in to RAF Lyneham last Wednesday, and the people of nearby Wootton Bassett came out to pay tribute to him, as is their tradition.
