Boy taken to hospital after crash on Kennington Road in Ashford between van and HGV

A 13-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after a crash in Ashford today.

He suffered leg injuries in the smash between a lorry and HGV that closed Kennington Road at about 11.15am.

The youngster, a passenger in the van, was taken to King's College Hospital, in London, along with the male driver.

Police are appealing for information following the crash.

Kent Police said the pair's injuries are described as serious, but not life-threatening.

Three Kent Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to the scene along with two ambulances and a paramedic car.

The pair, both fully conscious, were freed by firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment.

Kent Highways closed the road in both directions between Blackwall Road North and Kings Chase at around 12.20pm.

KFRS left the scene at around 12:45pm and the ambulance service at 1.15pm.
