POLICE are investigating an arson attack at the home of a 70-year-old woman.

The pensioner was in the sitting room of her home in Beaver Road, Ashford, when she saw four young people walk past her window.

Moments later she smelt smoke and discovered that a burning piece of newspaper had been pushed through her letterbox. She quickly put it out and only minor damage was caused to the carpet.

Two of the young people are described as boys wearing white "hoodies", one of whom was wearing a cap. They were accompanied by two girls wearing black trousers. One of the boys is thought to be aged 13-14.
