A town centre cafe has accidentally been offering one of the most expensive baguettes in the world.

Customers of By The Tank Cafe in Ashford were being asked to fork out £500 to order a delivery of a bacon and egg baguette.

The costly offer was down to a mistake on takeaway app Deliveroo which has added a rogue zero or two onto the price.

Thankfully, if a customer was to order the expensive option, it would at least mean they would pass the £9 minimum limit for delivery.

Other options on the menu include a sausage and egg baguette – a steal at £5 – while a bacon and egg sandwich is a wallet-friendly £4.95.

When a KentOnline reporter checked the price, a staff member thankfully saw the funny side but wanted to assure customers that the fault lay with the takeaway delivery giant.

"Oh my god! It's definitely not something on our end," she said.

"We're getting in touch with Deliveroo immediately to change that, it is of course £5 and not £500!"
