M20 closed after car fire between Ashford and Maidstone

A car has been engulfed in flames on the M20 - sparking the closure of the motorway.

The silver estate car was on the coastbound hard shoulder between Junction 8 for Leeds Castle and Junction 9 for Ashford.

Police closed the stretch of motorway as a result of the fire.

Fire crews were called to deal with the blaze, which is not thought to have caused any injuries.

The road reopened at around 3pm.
