CCTV images have been released showing a man police want to trace as part of an investigation into an attempted sexual assault.

Police want to speak to him following the offence in a grassed area behind a disused nightclub not far from East Hill in Ashford.

It is believed a man had previously encountered the victim at a bar in the High Street when he offered her a cigarette in the early hours of Saturday, September 22.

The police want to speak to this man

The suspect was said to have spoken in broken English and the cigarettes he smoked were unusual, being long and thin.

Kent Police is continuing to pursue a number of inquiries, including the review of any possible CCTV opportunities and detectives are now able to issue an image of someone they would like to speak to.

Anyone who recognises the man in the image or has any other information is asked to call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference ZY/056561/18.
