Beer enthusiasts will have to wait a little longer to tour a town centre brewery, which has delayed its opening for a second time.

The official launch of Curious Brewery owned by winemaker Chapel Down - which is being built on Victoria Road in Ashford - has been pushed back for a further three weeks until Friday, May 10.

The facility was due to open this week after its original opening date of March 29 was pushed back due to "a problem with the groundwork" according to Chapel Down chief executive Frazer Thompson.

The building's facade has been completed on schedule

Visitors will be able to tour the brewing facility and enjoy locally sourced food in an upstairs restaurant overlooking the brewing operation.

Gareth Bath, managing director of Curious Brewing, said: “We are so nearly there.

"As anyone who lives in Ashford will have seen, we’ve made huge strides in the brewery’s construction over the last couple of weeks.

"The team is doing an amazing job as we begin work on the final details including the restaurant fit out, the landscaping and the commissioning of the brewhouse. It goes without saying that this is an incredibly exciting stage of the project.

Construction teams are still working on the Curious Brewery's landscaping and can also be seen working on the building's rear

"To ensure we give everyone the best possible experience and get all the final details exactly as we want them, we will be confirming an updated opening schedule over the coming weeks – watch this space.

"We’ll soon be able to open the doors of the Curious Brewery and welcome people to taste the freshest, most premium, British beer imaginable, enjoy a delicious menu of modern British cuisine, tour the brewhouse itself and much more besides.

"Honestly, you’re going to love this place.”

Plans for the brewery were submitted to Ashford Borough Council in August 2016.

All of the giant brewing vats have been installed

A number of design alterations have been made, with the featured brewing vats moved outside and a reduction in the building's footprint.

Mr Bath expects the construction work to have ended on April 26, and soft opening events will commence from Friday, May 3 until the official launch.

The unveiling of the nearby Elwick Place development also suffered a late setback due to a faulty cable under the site.
