A poster offering £1,000 prize money in exchange for the best sounding Chewbacca roar has appeared in Ashford.
The sign was spotted in a shop window in Bank Street yesterday, which coincided with April Fool’s Day.
It reads: “Chewbacca Roar Competition! Win £1,000. Phone this number 07548917069 and leave your best roar and your name to enter.”
A picture of the hairy Star Wars character accompanies the poster.
Applicants who call will be greeted with a Voicemail message that says: “Hi, and thanks for calling our Chewbacca roar competition, for your chance to win leave your best roar after the beep,” followed by the Wookie’s iconic groan.
Chewbacca is a fictional character who features in four of the six Star Wars’ movies.
He was portrayed by Peter Mayhew , who was chosen for his height - standing at seven foot three inches.
His voice was created from a mix of recordings of walruses, lions, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
It is not known whether the poster was part of an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank, a scam or a legitimate competition.
