Paul Jones scored twice for Ashford against Godalming

Ashford Town slipped back to the bottom of Ryman League Division 1 South after losing 1-0 at fellow-strugglers Chipstead on Saturday.

In a low-key game in Surrey the hosts took the lead on the break 10 minutes before half-time, and despite a chances for Mark Lovell and Paul Jones, pictured, after the break, the home side ran-out worthy winners.

Whitstable's win left the Nuts and Bolts back on the bottom, but still just three points from safety and four behind fourth-bottom Walton Casuals, but with three games in hand.

Meanwhile Folkestone Invicta's top of the table clash against Croydon in Division 1 South at the Buzzlines Stadium was postponed.
