Kent-based comedian Julian Clary has taken a cheeky swipe at tracksuit-wearing bus passengers and the Olympic and Paralympic homecoming parades.

Athletes from the Games in Rio de Janeiro were welcomed by crowds of up to 150,000 in rainy Manchester yesterday to mark Britain’s medal winners.

The event was televised on BBC and Channel 4 to mark the most successful Olympic and Paralympic Games by Team GB, and today they will be welcomed at Trafalgar Square in London.

But camp comic Julian Clary seemed less than impressed.

He told his 200,000 Twitter followers: "If I wanted to see people in track suits on a bus I can go to Ashford."

Mr Clary, who lives in Aldington near Ashford, is currently touring with his show called The Joy of Mincing, which includes a performance at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone on Sunday, October 30.
