The familiar sculptures on Ashford's Drovers Roundabout have almost disappeared.

The drover looks for his herd

The black metal figures of a drover and his small herd of cows making their way to Ashford Cattle Market are now almost engulfed by metre-high grass and weeds.

It's great news for the cow figures if they want something to munch on but confusing for motorists more used to seeing the figures as they approach the roundabout from Templer Way.

The drover and his cows returned to the roundabout in 2011 after a year away when the roundabout was remodelled.

They were kept in store and refurbished during this period.

During their time away a Facebook group, Save the COWS on the Cow ROUNDABOUT, which formed after their disappearance, attracted nearly 2,000 members.

The Drovers Roundabout cows are regularly decorated by pranksters each Christmas

They have also been the subject of festive makeovers for the past few Christmases, with the drover figure and cows given Father Christmas hats and coats and decorated with tinsel and baubles.
