Easter point-to-point organisers hopeful about weather prospects

Point-to-point enthusiasts will be hoping the two big Easter meetings both go ahead.
The Ashford Valley Hunt race is at Charing on Saturday, while the East Kent Hunt stage their traditional Easter Monday card at Aldington.
The previous three South East meetings at Parham, near Storrington in West Sussex last Sunday, Penshurst and Godstone have all been abandoned due to waterlogged courses.
With the freezing weather set to continue all week, respective secretaries Rob Harrison (Ashford) and Ian Gibson (Aldington) are remaining optimistic.
Harrison said: "The course has dried out superbly. Snow could be an issue if it comes back but there isn’t a lot we can do about that.
"We are expecting a good entry as so many meetings have been called off, with owners and trainers all wanting to run their horses."
Gibson added: "Losing three meetings has made it a nightmare for organisers.
"We had no snow over the weekend but we need dry days. The forecast suggests the end of the week has potential to cause problems."
Pony races begin at 12.30pm at Charing, while Aldington stage a demonstration of country pursuits in the paddock starting at 12.15pm.
Both meetings feature six-race cards and start at 2pm.
Admission at Charing is £20 per car while Aldington charge £10 per person, children under-16 free and £30 per car.
