Fire crews were called after a woman got stuck in a car in a water-filled ditch.

It is believed the driver had accidentally reversed into the ditch in Lower Wall Road, Aldington.

A woman and a boy managed to get out of the front of the car before crews arrived, but an elderly passenger in the back of the vehicle was unable to get out.

Emergency crews including firefighters and the ambulance service's hazardous area response team were called just after 3pm yesterday.

They managed to help the woman out of the car and up onto the bank using short extension ladders.

She was then checked over by paramedics.
