Firefighters were called out to a false alarm fire at an immigration centre last night.

Two engines rushed to Millbank Road, in Kingsnorth, around 10pm after reports of a blaze in the roof.

Crews used ladders and thermal imaging to inspect the area but found no signs of a fire.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We received reports of a fire in the roof space but it was a false alarm."
