Dozens of firefighters have been scrambled to a farm when a building went up in flames.

In total, 10 fire engines were deployed after a blaze broke out in an industrial building in Headcorn Road, Smarden, Ashford, at about 1.30pm today.

The cause of the fire, which was extinguished at about 3.40pm, is currently unknown a Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said.

They added: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire involving an industrial building at a farm in Headcorn Road, in Smarden, Ashford.

“At the height of the fire, ten fire engines were in attendance, as well as a height vehicle, a bulk water carrier, and an all-terrain vehicle.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and main jets to extinguish the blaze and stop the flames from spreading.

“No injuries were reported, and the cause is not yet known.”

Wearing breathing apparatus, crews used water from a hydrant alongside high-pressure hose reel jets and a main hose.
