Police are looking for thieves who took 24 metres of wooden fencing from a children’s play area.

The fencing was stolen in Egerton Road at Charing Heath, between 8pm on Tuesday, May 30 and 11am on Wednesday May 31.

Charing Parish Council clerk Dawne Austen said the theft was reported by a resident and added: "Thieves have sawn between the posts to remove sections of fencing.

"We put the fence around the equipment as it stops dogs roaming in the playground and prevents balls rolling in from the football pitch."

The playground contains cradle and nest swings for the youngest children.
