Fire engines attend Ashford Railway Works in Newtown Road

Firefighters were called to a former railway works after a portacabin caught alight.

Two fire engines were spotted at the entrance of the Ashford Railway Works in Newtown Road yesterday at 6pm.

The portacabin fire was also attended by a police car.

Two fire engines and a police car were seen outside the Railway Works on Newtown Road (14430480)

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "Crews were called to Newtown Road at 5.17pm yesterday.

"It was a derelict portacabin alight, two fire engines attended.

"A hose reel jet was used to put out the fire. The cause is unknown and there were no reported injuries."

The Ashford Railway Works are set to become film studios under a new development plan by Quinn Estates.
